Astrological Consultations

BACKGROUND & STYLE

I’ve been studying astrology for ten years now. I was impressed with and felt validated by discovering aspects in my natal chart that pointed to experiences I had trouble articulating. It was and is an invaluable tool for me to better understand myself and also connect to time: “where rhythm is life, and life is rhythm.” After encountering birth charts, I became more and more curious and would read the charts of as many people as I could, training. I have been offering professional readings since mid-2020.

As I’ve developed my reading style, I realized I use a lot of figurative language in my chart interpretations. Extended metaphors are central to my communication style. I incorporate references to arts of all mediums — painting, drawing, fashion, makeup, hair art, sculpture, film, literature, music, and more — to further illustrate what I see in a natal chart or between two peoples charts. I will often share artworks for the client to explore after the reading to continue making sense of my shared interpretations. I really enjoy identifying notable people in human history who share placements or aspects with clients, too, to be potential guides for the clients.

DEFINITIONS

A natal chart, also known as a birth chart, is a chart that most people are familiar with. A natal chart is a snapshot of the sky at the moment of someone’s birth. Birth times are important because positions of points and planets can change rather quickly.

A solar return chart is a chart that is your horoscope for the year, so they can be interpreted to see what the year ahead will bring you. These readings are inherently predictive. You may see “happy solar return” used as a phrase to wish someone a happy birthday. Solar return means the sun returns to the position it was at during someone’s birth. So if your sun is at 9’06” Leo in your natal chart, then every time the sun makes it back to that same place of 9’06” Leo, that is your solar return chart.

Synastry is the astrological study of relationships. Syn means “together,” and astry is “stars.” For a synastry reading, one person’s chart is overlaid with another person’s chart, and the ways the charts interact with one another is interpreted. Synastry is for relationships of all kinds, even though it is discussed primarily as a method for understanding romantic relationships. A synastry reading can apply for a family relationship of any kind, friends, coworkers, neighbors, and more.

The tropical zodiac is a 360’ circle mapped onto the ecliptic that coincides with the equinoxes, as opposed to fixed stars and constellations in the sky. The tropical zodiac includes twelve signs divided equally into 30’ segments and begins with Aries at the March/Spring equinox. The signs are in this order: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces. According to EarthSky, the ecliptic is “a projection of the plane of Earth’s orbit around the sun, traced onto our sky. Practically speaking, the ecliptic forms a great circle around the sky and is a useful tool for stargazers.” When you see popular commentary welcoming the start of Virgo Season or Pisces Season, for example, that marks the move of the sun into the respective 30’ segment in the tropical zodiac unless indicated otherwise.

METHODS

I utilize the tropical zodiac. For the house system, I use whole sign houses.
I use traditional planetary rulership (i.e. Saturn rules Aquarius, Jupiter rules Pisces, Mars rules Scorpio), though I do use modern planets (Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) in chart delineations. I really like to note stationary planets and midpoints, and from time to time I incorporate fixed stars, asteroids, and decan associated tarot cards in consultations, too. I spend a lot of time exploring aspects between points (Ascendant, Descendant, I.C.,  M.C.) and between planets. I specialize in natal astrology, with particular attention to solar return readings and synastry readings.

Confidentiality is essential to my readings. With my experiences working in music marketing, public relations, and leading a sexual trauma peer-support group, I practice confidentiality and privacy frequently and with great seriousness.
